OUR COMPANY, ON THE TIMELINE
1946AN END AND A BEGINNING
The end of the Second World War left Italy in critical conditions encompassing infrastructures, agricultural production and the industrial system. Within this framework, Alberto Sassi – electrical engineering technician and former army officer – wished to play an active role in the Reconstruction.
Thus it was that a small business for the production of building machinery was established.
The first trademark – Astor – was registered on 2 July 1946.
Just as a bird that uses upward currents to fly and move around, so did the first Sassi elevator traction machines.
1950 – 1960 THE ITALIAN ECONOMIC MIRACLE
The Reconstruction stimulated years of strong economic growth and technological development. Against this backdrop, the company pioneered by Alberto Sassi became increasingly organized and specialized in the production and marketing of elevator traction machines.
1961ALBERTO SASSI S.P.A. WAS ESTABLISHED
Alberto Sassi became a Limited Liability Company and moved to the new premises in Crespellano (BO).
At that time, there were neither industrial facilities nor links with the city. But the logistical challenges for both employees and production paid off during the following years as the surrounding industrial district developed.
1965THE FIRST BRAKES AND MOTORS
Ours was the only company to manufacture elevator traction machines in the whole of Europe. Difficulties in obtaining ready-made electrical parts encouraged the company to invest in its own production of electromagnetic brakes and electric motors.
1965 – 1981DOMESTIC AND INTERNATIONAL PARTNERSHIPS
We began to work with the most important companies in the sector, both in Europe and the World.
1982TEST TOWER CONSTRUCTION
We built a test tower 30 meters high to test new products.
1996 WE ACQUIRE UNI EN ISO 9001 CERTIFICATION
2000ROOMLESS REVOLUTION
New building technologies for elevators – without machine rooms – begin to make headway in the market.
We launch our versatile LEO, a geared machine designed for use in all types of roped lift installations.
2002WE ACQUIRE TÜV CERTIFICATION
2004OUR GEARLESS TRACTION MACHINES ARE NOW MADE IN ITALY
The elevator industry welcomes new technologies, with an eye to sustainable development.
The Alberto Sassi Gearless department creates G-400 – the first standardized product – and presents it during the Interlift trade fair at Augsburg in 2005.
2018THE NEW FACTORY
We invest to optimize production. Next to the industrial building already expanded in 2008, we are inaugurating a new 3,000-square-meter hall entirely dedicated to motor processing. We now have a covered space of 16,800 square meters out of a total industrial area of 33,000 square meters dedicated to geared and gearless machine design and production.
2022THE GEARLESS RANGE IS ENLARGED
Our range of gearless traction machines now includes 5 families, able to cater to every requirement and traction system.
2023WE KEEP UP WITH DEVELOPMENTS IN THE INDUSTRY
Developments which lead to our gearless traction machine with belt drive – more technological, less bulky.
The Sassi Holding Group
We embarked upon a process of industrial acquisitions in 1995, one that led to the present day Sassi Holding family.
1995
SMS Sistemi and Microsistemi S.r.l.
We acquired SMS and entrusted them with the management of our electronics department.
1996
Gibierre S.r.l.
We acquire Gibierre s.r.l. then merged into Alberto Sassi in 2007, to have complete control of motor production.
1961
Alberto Sassi S.p.A.
From the spinoff of industrial activities from real estate activities, Alberto Sassi S.p.A. was born, which kept the in-house production of gearboxes and then gearless over time.
2000
SLS Sassi Lift Systems L.t.d.
We acquired the majority share in Liftmaterial (GB) L.t.d. – a business and services-providing enterprise with headquarters in the UK which, in June 2001, changed its business name to SLS Sassi Lift Systems.
2010
ALBERTO SASSI ESPAÑA S.L.
Subsidiary Faymesa S.L. becomes Alberto Sassi España S.L., completing the elevator gearboxes offering with its own models always featuring Sassi technology and quality.
